The Construction Department Manager will support the firm’s Florida construction group on a variety of projects.
The Construction Department Manager position will also offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients.
This position will be responsible for the management of staff and their assignments and perform Department Management duties.
POSITION DUTIES:
Department Manager for Construction Services in the specified geographic region.
Oversee work of others and assign work to staff.
Develop training programs for staff.
Mentor employees for career advancement.
In charge of extensive and complex projects as Project Manager.
Build strong relationships with clients and participate in business development.
Manages client services and serves as a client contact.
Prepare proposals and contracts for future work, and attend interviews as required.
Provides senior-level municipal construction project management and client services.
Provides effective communication, both oral and written, with client, contractor, and all other stakeholders.
Coordinates with inspectors for on-site observation of work activities and testing as needed.
Reviews contractor progress schedules.
Reviews pay requests and verify work completed.
Reviews contractor’s as-built drawings.
Responds to contractor’s Request for Information (RFIs).
Endeavors to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
Monitor progress schedule and shop drawing log.
Maintains Inspector’s records of time, equipment, and material needs for any changes in the work that may result in a change order.
Assist in field as required.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field required.
15+ years of proven progressive experience in consultant construction engineering.
Must have experience in the construction management of municipal or public improvement projects (water mains, wastewater mains, storm water systems and roadways).
Significant experience in interpreting plans, specifications, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
Ability to oversee multiple projects, troubleshoot problems in the field and implement solutions.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from design engineers, other construction managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to travel throughout the West Palm Beach area.
