*Job Title: *Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting

*SUMMARY*
The Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting is responsible for the activities of the general accounting functions and provides financial analysis in support of the business corporate leadership.
This position manages the daily activities of the corporate and managerial accounting functions, the monthly financial close and reporting process, and technical accounting research and policy development.
This is an outward facing role requiring the quality production of US GAAP statements and operational reporting heavily relied upon for evaluating performance and making business decisions.
This position requires an intimate understanding of the business to be able to improve the value of information.
You must be comfortable working with tight deadlines and interfacing with other business functions, leadership, stakeholders, and external auditors.
This position is responsible for overseeing the recording of accounting information into the general and subsidiary ledgers in accordance GAAP in an accurate and timely manner.
These include the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules, the analysis of financial data as well as preparing appropriate explanation for activities and variances.
The selected candidate will provide right-hand support to the company’s leadership and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment with minimal supervision.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Lead the Finance Department during the Monthly Closing Process, develop and present monthly / quarterly / annual financial statements * Monitoring and controlling of costs through analysis and reporting * Develop people through internal rotations and build a cross-trained team * Research complex and technical accounting matters; prepare position papers and related policies * Ensure the timely development of standard costs for all products and periodically review for accuracy * Drive change to ensure scaling of operation, increases in efficiency and increases in quality through automation, work assessment and process improvement * Ensure that an adequate system of internal control is maintained, general ledger accounts are correctly stated and classified, and that financial reporting is prepared both to manage the operations of the business and to accommodate stakeholder reporting * Develop and enforce internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management and accounting * Lead the annual audit process * Work closely with FP&A to assist senior operations management in the development of capital projects, cost saving initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Provide financial interpretation and challenge in these areas.
* Manage daily cash and debt management including the approval of wires and ACH payments as well as the review and approval of payroll payments * Ensure compliance with bank covenants * Develop and maintain rolling cash forecast and liquidity analysis * Establishes, or recommends to management, major plant economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company * Ensure proper inventory and production accounting policies and procedures are followed by plant operations * Perform other duties as assigned * Report to management, situations that may compromise product quality, food safety and regulatory compliance *WORK EXPERIENCES* * 8+ years of work experience in accounting and reporting * 5+ years of managerial/leadership experience * Work experience in a manufacturing environment a plus * Solid experience in monthly/quarterly/annual close process and coordination of the annual audit * Strong knowledge of cost accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting required * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP (preferred) or similar ERP system * Strong working knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint * Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory * Ability to work independently and drive company results *EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS* * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting * Master’s in Finance/Accounting-related field of study is a plus * CPA or CMA Plus *ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)* * Willing to learn about our business, leaving your desk and spending time in a manufacturing environment * Excellent analytical skills and impeccable business judgement * Detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and able to delegate clearly and consistently * Able to perform and deliver under pressure and tight deadlines * Effective listener and problem-solver * Comfortable in communicating with stakeholders at all levels of seniority * Strong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts is a must * Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles required * Excellent leadership, influencing and communication skills; ability to create and foster strong cross-functional networks and manage without authority * Must be comfortable in fast growing, rapidly changing environment, wearing multiple hats as needs arise * Multitasking and able to prioritize We are an equal opportunity employer.
