Oxbridge Academy Theatre Director/Teacher – Fall 2024 Our School: Oxbridge Academy is a non-profit, independent, co-ed, grades 6-12 day school in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Founded in 2011, Oxbridge serves over 600 students and delivers a unique curriculum that allows students to explore a large selection of courses and programs beyond the traditional core.
These include aviation, Cambridge Scholars, artificial intelligence, and a host of seminars in humanities and social science.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a comprehensive theatre curriculum for high school and middle school students, foster their talents, and mentor them towards stellar college theatre and musical theatre programs.
As an Oxbridge Theatre Teacher, you will curate a vibrant learning experience through courses such as Acting, Honors Musical Theatre (Performance Ensemble), Stagecraft, and the Introduction to Theatre for 9th Grade.
You’ll direct our students in two major annual productions, and proudly showcase their growth and collaboration with the International Thespian Society.
Our program celebrates interdisciplinary collaboration, often uniting with the dance and music departments to create mesmerizing performances that resonate within our community.
We are seeking a creative educator with experience who is ready to take center stage and elevate our theatre program to new heights of excellence and creativity.
Tasks/Essential Functions: Instructional Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive theatre curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational goals.
Directorial Duties: Direct multiple major school theatre productions each year.
Coordinate all aspects of production, from casting to rehearsals to the final performance.
Student Preparation: Prepare and mentor students for auditions and acceptance into top college theatre and musical theatre programs.
Provide individual guidance and support to students pursuing the arts.
Collaboration: Foster interdisciplinary projects and performances with the dance and music departments.
Encourage student participation in the International Thespian Society and other relevant organizations.
Curriculum Development: Continuously update course content and teaching methods to stay current with industry standards and educational best practices.
Integrate new ideas and approaches to teaching theatre, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
Performance and Event Management: Organize and oversee all logistical aspects of theatre performances, including set design, lighting, and sound.
Coordinate with other departments for joint performances and events.
Student Engagement and Leadership: Inspire passion for the arts within students and cultivate a supportive learning atmosphere.
Advise a group of students and keep parents and legal guardians informed about student’s progress.
Lead students in exploring creative expressions and developing their performance skills.
Cultivate Oxbridge’s core values of kindness, courtesy, integrity, respect, and compassion.
Professional Development: Remain active in the theatre community and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance personal expertise and teaching skills.
Community Interaction: Engage with the wider school community to promote the theatre program and its events.
Build relationships with external arts organizations to enrich the program and provide additional opportunities for students.
Administrative Tasks: Attend faculty meetings, contribute to the school’s arts education strategy, and participate in relevant committees.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.
Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
Demonstrated ability to engage the interest of middle and high school age children.
At least three years of relevant classroom teaching experience.
Ability to work well with students, parents, and all members of the Oxbridge community.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate improved learning, habits, and measurements of achievement.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
