Junior Accountant Full-Time Position, Salary commensurate with level of qualifications.
Full Job Description The Junior Accountant will be a member of the bank reconciliation team.
The team is responsible for reconciling daily bank activity for Driftwood Hospitality’s managed hotels.
As a Junior Accountant with Driftwood Hospitality Management, you will be responsible for all functions related to the daily and monthly reconciliations of hotel property and corporate bank accounts.
The Junior Accountant will review and analyze daily banking activity and ensure postings are correct and follow up on any variances or open items.
Coordinate with corporate Treasury and Corporate Accountants as banking relates to their corporate and hotel cash responsibilities.
Assure necessary journal entries are completed and posted to correct accounts and entities.
On a monthly basis, review bank statements and verify the necessary entries have been booked to accurately recognize all bank activity.
Complete all entries to balance bank to book.
Research, reconcile and book any adjusting entries to resolve all reconciling items on prior month and current bank statements and bank reconciliations.
All reconciling items are to be cleared prior to an entity’s month financial close.
As the Accountant: Review daily cash and bank activity of Driftwood Hospitality.
Prepare cash reconciliations and assist with the recording of journal entries for assigned accounts to meet individual property financial statement closing deadlines.
Investigate transactions, as needed, to detect irregularities.
Review bank statements and compare them with general ledger entries.
Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
Prepare journal entries to adjust ledger accounts.
Reconcile cash accounts on the balance sheet.
Ensure no reconciling items are left one month to the next.
Reconcile other balance sheet accounts as assigned.
Prepare monthly reporting and reconciliations for internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
Accept other duties as assigned which may include accounting responsibility for a small group of hotels from our master portfolio of hotels.
Exhibit a focused and thorough attention to detail, in addition, to excellent time management skills.
Be a problem solver and learn the nuances of assigned properties within the Driftwood Hospitality Management portfolio.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
Aptitude for performing numerical analysis of data and formulating conclusions and/or solutions.
Ability to use logic to define a problem, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations.
Ability to succinctly present accounting oriented technical topics.
Strong knowledge of the setting up, filing and reconciliation of various taxes and other accounting related items.
Proficiency with the use of Excel.
Possess a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Accounting, or working towards a degree, with 1 -2 years of accounting experience.
