We are currently hiring a Staff Accountant to join our team.
General Purpose of the Job
The staff account is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day accounting, including maintaining controls over the General Ledger and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of business transactions in accordance with Company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Standards.
This role reports directly to the Controller and works collaboratively across the organization to uphold and enforce Company policies and procedures.
Overall Responsibilities
Prepare daily and monthly journal entries for $200MM+ portfolio of litigation funding receivables, and other
accounts such as prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and payroll utilizing Sage Intacct system to ensure proper recording of transactions on financial statements
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations using BlackLine automation software to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements in accordance with USClaims’ s accounting policies
Maintains fixed asset system, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets system
Assist with the month-end closing process, conducting research, investigate variances, and process entries to correct discrepancies
Prepare external monthly financial reporting package, including related compliance certificates in accordance with governing agreements
Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with Company policies and GAAP in various areas including revenue recognition, leases, acquisitions, and other topics
Assist with the preparation of the year-end financial statements; prepare schedules and other information requested by outside auditors for the annual audit of the company
Support the continuous improvement of an adequate internal control system that scales with the growth of the business
Performs other related projects as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
At least two years’ experience in accounting or a related field
Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
Dynamic in the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Organization
